NEXUS JULY 2 VS. SONY XPERIA Z ULTRA

THE NEXUS 7 2 IS FINALLY HERE, AND WE WILL COMPARE FOR YOU TO PHABLET SONY XPERIA Z ULTRA. SO WHICH ONE DO WE PREFER?HERE’S OUR VERDICT

The new Nexus 7 is now official. In addition to Android 4.3, the new version of the Google OS, the tablet offers a new hardware, new features, improved design, a high-resolution screen and a faster processor. Compared to the first version released in 2012, the new Google tablet is simply amazing

We decided to put the Nexus 7 face 2 a phablet, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, to see which device has the best specifications. We know that one is a phablet and the other is a tablet, but the boundaries between these different types of devices and their uses, are becoming increasingly blurred. So we decided to see what device offered the best specifications.

NEXUS 7 2 MAIN FEATURES

The original Nexus 7 was a huge success when it was launched in 2012. With the new Nexus 7, Google offers a much higher resolution display and improved pixel density (323ppi)

Resolution of 1200×1920 pixels on the screen gives a stunning appearance compared to its predecessor. For movies and games, this is an ideal solution – especially considering the price (less than 230 €).

The Nexus 7 2 works with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro 8064 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz with 2 GB of RAM and Android 4.3. So you can expect to have a very smooth experience. The tablet is available in versions 16 GB or 32 GB, but there is no support for microSD card

At the back of the tablet you find a 5 megapixel camera and secondary camera on the front is 1.2 megapixel for video calls and self-portraits.

Google Nexus 7 2 is available in two versions: 4G LTE and Wi-Fi

The Wi-Fi version will cost you € 229, while the 32GB variant will be offered to 279 €.

SONY XPERIA ULTRA Z: KEY FEATURES

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is the first attempt by Sony to market phablets. The screen measures 6.44 inches making it the largest phablet to date. It is also not far from the configuration of the new 7-inch Nexus 7. With a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, this is a full HD screen and as such, it offers a wonderful experience.

The device runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but hopefully it will be updated to Android 4.3 as soon as possible. Even if its characteristics do not match those of the Nexus 7 2 in terms of software, Sony has integrated its own suite of features, including the ability to use a pen to control the screen, much like the range Samsung Galaxy Note with S Pen.

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra also includes an infrared transmitter to control your TV or other sources benefiting from this support. It is more waterproof and dust – which does not have the Nexus 7 February.

The primary camera of 8 megapixel camera is located at the rear of the unit, though some may find it a little awkward to take pictures with a great device. There is also a 2-megapixel camera on the front, and with all the additional functions that Sony has included photography, Xperia Z Ultra is a very capable camera.

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is available in 16GB version, but it is possible to increase this storage via microSD card. The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor 800, which is certainly the most powerful on the market.

However, these technologies have a cost. The Sony Xperia Z Ultra will be available for a suggested retail price of € 729.

NEXUS 7 2 VS. SONY XPERIA Z ULTRA: CONCLUSION

The Nexus 7 2 will no doubt a very popular device, thanks to its improved features and low price. Android 4.3 will ensure a good experience for users just wanting to watch videos or browse the web.

However, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra is much more than a tablet. Also marketed as a smartphone, you can use it to make calls, and being waterproof and dustproof is a additional selling.
